Diamond

Waking up on golden sand or on golden clouds
Soft and welcoming or simply there
I sit up and look out on the side expanse of billowing yellow light
Near me slide two young lions, male and female
I fear them and turn my head away
A shock as I see a tangle of snakes writhing
I relax as I see that they are too far to reach me
Closing my eyes I let out a sigh
My breath, blue and shivery, sails away

Then I hear a sound
Someone running, maybe me,
Running up and past the snakes
Again I start, fearing for them
That these snakes will bite and spread
But no, the feet are too quick and are gone
Almost before they are there.

The lions slide up close to me
I clench and stiffen with fear
They are irritated at my fear
One lands her paws on me, holding me down
One paw slides up my neck and around my head
Careful not to scratch me with her claws
She tries to communicate
Through her eyes
And then pushes my head around
In the direction of the snakes
I see

Light
Her other paw holding a clear enormous stone
Diamond
Strong and hard with power and light
This too is mine
